Physical Immortality

"Mortals" fall asleep, fall in love, and then fall into the grave. Instead, they can learn to wake up whenever their bodies rest, and rise in love with everybody they meet. This challenges them to grow as alchemists--who learn to turn every part of themselves into gold. They discover that they are already  immortal.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead  states that if a soul can consciously leave through the crown chakra into pure light, the "soul" is liberated. Some Taoist and yogic texts speak about the alchemy required to transmute the body into light (ascend), and then later re-create a "physical" body. Other mystic lore suggests that wizards capable of ascending sometimes leave a corpse behind so as not to shock mass consciousness.

Physical death is an unhealthy habit.

Immortals of all varieties treasure each moment as their last. They dissolve their death wish--breath by breath. Instead of falling into old ways based on genetic, cultural, and parental influences, they breathe more and more light into their bodies--until all their chakras sing. While others hide from death or chase after physical immortality, wizards simply die daily (Week 48) and live fully.

They see that everything is already light--already immortal. They transcend the lower chakras (physical reality) and live free of judgement in the light of the crown. Space-time is seen as a game in which humans forget their divine nature.

Immortality and Flying

Ecstasy is not the goal. Immortality is not the goal. Flying is not the goal. You  are the goal. Yet to experience your Self there can be no goal in the mind. So what do you do?

Be. In your Self you will find a road map taking you into the Heart of mystery. Here you can stay for however long you like and explore your divine madness, then emerge a free wacky wizard. You will finally know total peace. Conscious immortality will be yours as a simple, natural consequence.

Conscious immortality is the alignment of your awareness with eternal essence. You no longer see distinctions between spirit and matter, and find beauty everywhere. You experience the bio-logic  of having a body as free and as light as your soul.

"A change in the state of the soul creates
a change in the state of the body."
--Aristotle

You see your body as light flowing from your imagination; and your imagination as an instrument of divine will. You see how you create your body from your core beliefs, so you nourish your body with immortal images and ecstatic states.

Thus, immortality is not necessarily about living in a body (in space) forever (in time), it is the surrender of the ego into light (beyond space-time). The personality awakens beyond the cycles of physical death and rebirth. Believing this won't help you. Dive! (Week 26)

The reason why I cannot fly
is because I'm afraid to fall.

So I look into the mirror and see through
the dark dragon. Now I feel lightness--not form.

Love bathes my heart. Bliss pulls me within.
I let go--and dive! Surrendered to all events,
all matters of chance and destiny, I freely
fall into ecstasy. Nothing left to hang on to.

So I fly: higher and higher and higher.

Flying is so simple, so natural, so much fun! To know anything else is like being a bird with one broken wing. To heal, sometimes we just have to wait beside the River until we can hear It whisper. If the River takes one second, or lifetimes to respond, we're not concerned. In our restfulness we forget time. Nature takes our mind into the gentleness of our soul. The mind bows to the Heart.

We know that no force in the universe can take away our joy. Heaven hereafter can wait because we have found heaven here-and-now in the lightness of our being.

Lightness is the great healer.

Lightness is the mischievous transformer of ordinary perception into laughter. It mocks our seriousness and can't wait for us to trip over our limited beliefs. Lightness finds us when we least expect and tickles us into rolling laughter or ecstatic dance.

Lightness is one step away from flying:

"Up, up, and within."

Lightness can easily come down to earth and empathize with a "heavy" worldly problem. Lightness loves darkness as its Self. Yang loves yin as its equal in the circle of life.

Lightness is athletes in a state of grace; artists painting their dreams; children playing carefreely on a lazy summer day.

But which road to take? Which books to read? Which teachers to learn from? The road is Every Road. The book is The Book of Life. The teacher is the Song of Silence.

Your true love sending gentle care with a kiss,

transports worry exquisite into heavenly bliss.

But what is the magic of the soul's fiery will?

Explosions of cells into starbursts of thrill.

Body at ease, mind at bay, you naturally fly in your own pure way.

There is no magic pill that can take away your every ill.

Light Diet
Pills change symptoms, but leave your limited thoughts (the cause) untouched. Therefore:

Emphasize what thoughts you are digesting.

Thoughts have greater impact on your body than unhealthy foods. The reason: while your body eats only a few times a day, your body continuously digests your perceptions of reality.

If you want to accelerate your awakening into light, try an enzyme-rich, vegetarian diet: fresh fruits and living foods such as alfalfa sprouts; no meat, fish, fowl, eggs. Eat as few mucous-forming foods as possible (yeasted bread, cake, dairy, etc.).

A gradual approach to diet change is sensible. Investigate common sense and balanced nutrition. Buy organic--you're worth it! Eat foods that nourish you on all levels. Avoid being self-critical about eating unhealthy foods once in a while. "Eat to live, not live to eat."

Eat when hungry. Drink your food. Chew your liquids.

Chew your foods until they become liquids. Sip your liquids until they reach body temperature. Love your body as your Self.

The Man Who Became a Tree

One day, which I'll call now, there was a man (or was she a woman?) who thought he'd much rather be a tree than a he. So he stood in the forest for quite a long while, with his arms outstretched, wearing a big hearty smile. Many days passed but he would not move, for he had definitely decided a tree he would be. The ants knew better but nonetheless climbed up him, for in his pocket was an old blueberry muffin. The birds knew better but nonetheless cared, for his head was a nice stable place to build a new home without any haste.

A bear came along and had a good laugh, for there was a man covered in moss. "Dear man," said the bear with a chuckle, "why stand in the rain and the hot sun when you can have a nice home and a swimming pool for fun?"

"Hear me," whispered the man who looked like a tree. "When I lived in the city of noise and haste, I woke in the morning shaken and scared. If I was late for work and lost my job, I'd have no money to feed my pet frog. How could I pay the milkman, the baker, the neighborhood undertaker? Old I was growing though only twenty, so I ran to the forest where I now have plenty.

"Now I wait right here until I find ecstasy or ecstasy finds me. In either case, I am free. My cells feel the genius of a bumbling bee. Fears of falling dissolve as I root deeply in the mystery of alchemy. So I dance without moving. I have without possessing. I do without the doer. What I left behind was not me. Who I am is who I've always been. The world moves, I am stillness. What is not already within cannot appear. Like a squirrel, heaven rushes up the trunk of this happy tree. The nest on my crown has taught me that we are born to fly free.

The Alchemist's Inner Smile

The "inner smile" is an expression that came to me when I found a simple Way of being my deepest self no matter how many pressures I was facing. I felt as if I was standing in the center of a cyclone, with the winds of circumstance wheeling around me. Even while my body or mind moved, something inside me was absolutely still--and blissfully smiling.

I called it the inner smile because I felt as if every cell of my being was acknowledged and happy. It was not a mystical experience of consciously experiencing "death" by going into light, but of bringing light into my body. It was the birth and mirth of alchemy: the realization that after we discover our spiritual nature, we can end the distinction between spirit and matter.

Ascending bubbles of bliss floating up from below,
bringing Everything to the surface.

I later discovered that the ancient Chinese Taoists used the same phrase "inner smile" as a key to unlock immortality.

The inner smile is the open Heart--uplifting energy.
It is the pull from above--always guiding patiently.

No need to study ancient texts
nor read long commentaries.
Just embrace the smile within
and you shall touch love's own design.

Wisdom shall become your own.
What you have and want are one.
Your every whim a harmonious law--
the perfectly balanced midnight song.

So stay at home in this special place:
garden of tranquillity.
Walk all the day light and free.
Kiss a flower, hug a tree.
